Pre-Season training in Hintertux, Austria

November 29, 2009

Kelly and Claire have returned from their pre-season training camp in Hintertux, Austria.

The British Disabled Ski Team’s annual pre-season training camp is a great opportunity for the team to train together on snow, focusing on all aspects of the forthcoming ski season.

This was Kelly and Claire’s first pre-season training camp and they have shown progress over the two weeks.

Most of the first week was spent outside gates practicing technical drills on the gentler slopes of the Glacier.
Kelly picked up a knee injury from a fall; however it has heeled well since being managed by team physiotherapists and follow-up treatment at home at the Sport Institute Northern Ireland.

The remainder of the week was allocated for Giant Slalom gate training. The girls have settled back into a consistent and improving performance.

In the second week, the team moved into Slalom gate training. Due to some surprising good weather on the Glacier, The girls got a chance for a couple of runs on the Super-G speed skis.
