Christmas and New Year in Winter Park

January 2, 2010

As expected, an official protest was lodged with the IPC in relation to Kelly’s current IPC classification. The IPC are in the process of arranging for an opportunity for Kelly to be re-classified.

Kelly and Claire have shown great determination and spirit by continuing to train in Winter Park amid this uncertainty.

The Girls competed as planned in Copper Mountain and Winter Park, however with Kelly’s current classification status, the Girls’ times were not factored and their rankings at these races will not be included in the official publications. This experience was however, a chance for the girls to gain some real race experience in an atmosphere with no pressure.

The Girls enjoyed a well deserved break over Christmas and New Year, spending time and free skiing with fellow athletes who train with them at the National Sports Centre for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado.

There’s a countdown to the 7th January when a fellow Scot will join the Winter Park team. Jamie Butler, Claire’s boyfriend will be volunteering for the NSCD,  Jamie will help athletes and coaches on and off the slopes for two weeks before he and the girls return home to the UK.
