2010/11 Season Planning

July 22, 2010

Kelly travelled to the University of Bath in England for baseline fitness testing with the British Disabled Ski Team this week.

The testing will help the team assess athletes’ fitness over the course of the year and is run alongside ParalympicsGB’s Talent Transition Programme, (TTP). Kelly was delighted to have a one-to- one session with Olympic medallist Kate Allenby where they spoke about the qualities needed to become an elite athlete and enjoyed spending time with other Paralympic potential athletes during the weekend.

Kelly then travelled up to Manchester indoor snow slope, Chill Factore, for a team meeting where the outlook for the season 2010/11 and the coming four years was discussed. There appears to be a great deal of uncertainty around the future of funding within UK disabled ski racing and this is meaning a difficult Summer for all athletes. In addition this is exasperated by Kelly’s, so far , unfruitful search for an appropriate race guide for the coming season.

Kelly found time for a few runs of the slope to get her ski legs back and enjoyed catching up with her fellow teammates on the British Disabled Ski Team.
